What happened to the viewership? Where did they disappear? Overall bad performance by ABC with the exception of Conners and SUT.

Infact SUT seems to be the real winner of the night. Lol. As it has improved performance since fall and is matching TR in demo.
Maybe those missing TR viewers had a party with the over half a million missing NA and over a million This Is Us viewers. TR lost a lot fewer last night in preliminary numbers than those two did.

And did you see the unrounded drop for NA in the second half hour? Both NA and TIU had significant demo drops in the second half hour.

Stayed the same unfortunately, but up to 3.833m. Still, happy for the uptick from last week!

NA went down though. So at least happy that TR stayed at 0.7 at least.

Hoping the missing viewers return next week

So we’re reduced to celebrating the demo drops of shows that are still doing significantly better than The Rookie and have no bearing on its renewal prospects because they’re on a competing network? Alrighty then.

Told you guys. DVR isn’t going to be good this week. It must have only recorded half the episode.

Let’s hope for better numbers from next week. Unfortunately the presidential address screwed up everything.

The Rookie (ABC) • Updated Live+Same Day: 3.956 million viewers, 0.65 adults 18-49 rating • Live+3: 6.655 million viewers, 1.19 adults 18-49 rating • Gains: +2.699 million viewers (+68%), +0.54 adults 18-49 rating (+84%)

AMLT ratings - 1.1 and 5.22 million viewers. Looks like the new president made the correct decision.

Most people are betting those numbers drop next week, maybe even to an 0.9. Interesting that AMLT average audience skewed older than Greys or HTGAWM. I wouldn’t have guessed that.

I agree with this comment. If it had gone up by a SINGLE point in both the weeks, we could have had a 0.7 and 0.8 respectively

Oops!... I Did it Again • 12 hours ago
The Rookie is the most unlucky show in the world, tbh:
L+SD finals: 0.75 (last week: 0.65)

0.7 with 3.83 million viewers.

Yikes at the unrounded. I wonder what the ratings will be 2 weeks later esp with the hiatus and Conners not leading the night.

I was just looking at the ratings of For The People and Quantivo. They were both renewed for worse ratings. I think there will be a season 2. But whether it goes beyond that will depend on the lead-in and time slot for they give it.

I could be completely off base here, but ABC is "reviving" (some have labelled it a sequel) NYPD Blue for next season. It's only been picked up to pilot at this point. But I can't help but wonder if ABC is thinking of having a "cop block" similar to the NBC Chicago Block on Wednesdays. The Rookie has been labelled as kind of a throw back to the older type cop shows, and I wonder if they're thinking of grouping them together hoping for a boost for TR, or that they'll boost each other.

I swear I read that ABC had another older popular cop show reboot/revival in development too, but I can't find anything on it, so maybe I only imagined it.

I think it’s NY undercover. And hopefully you’re right. A block like One Chicago or the NCIS-FBI-NCIS NO would do wonders for The Rookie.

I hope they are not thinking of replacing The Rookie with these cop shows.

The Rookie actually grew a bit in Spain. It's featured as a performer for the night:

The Rookie is actually much stronger than anything in the timeslot in a few years, definitely better than last year's show. It'll be renewed. Of course, as you said, we'll have to keep our fingers crossed for season 3.

Single parents has dropped to a 0.7. This does not bode well for WC. ABC literally saved AMLT by putting it after Grey’s.

That's still not as bad as The Rookie's lead in. If WC is as advertised, it's got one thing going for it -- a hook different from the 800 -- an exaggeration but there are a lot -- other currently airing law enforcement shows that are either ensemble or COTW. It reads as if WC is going to be built around the WTWT of two agents. I think WC's success rises and falls on whether there's still a big enough market for the "cop show surrounding a romance" model and whether the pairing has the "It factor" that makes people stick with that type of show beyond a couple of episodes.

Edit. I just wanted to add that ABC is giving WC the post-Oscar slot for the premiere on the 24th, and then airing episode 2 on the 27th. https://www.thewrap.com/whiskey-cavalie ... -2019-abc/ It's going to have the best lead-in shot ABC has to give, at least on day one.
