They repeated 1x02 I guess.

0.3 with 2.08 viewers.

Conners did 0.7, TKAA - 0.5 and Blackish and SUT - 0.4.

NBC repeated This is US which did 0.4 and NA which did 0.3 and 2.04 viewers.

So TR did slightly better than NA in terms of viewers and both had same demo.

ESPN probably had good numbers. January 1 is a big time college bowl day in the US. I dislike THE Ohio State so much, but I can’t stay angry at a school whose band played Bohemian Rhapsody at halftime lol.

Against a huge football playoff game that 25 million watched on fox. It’s rerun against the Cowboys/Seahawks game still did better than the Alec Baldwin show it replaced lol.

It was a mess. I think a lot of people tuned in at 10/9 and when Rookie wasn’t on, tuned out again. I saw a lot of tweets last night asking where the hell TR was at the beginning of the hour. Splitting Up Together stole some of TR’s ratings being on at the beginning of the hour since they gained half a million viewers over their usual number. Others likely didn’t want to stay up late to watch TR and recorded it.

Even New Amsterdam had a season low 1.0 and it started on time. All the ratings pros I’ve seen call it a toss out that has no effect on renewal decisions.

The combo of coming back from hiatus and the delayed start really screwed it over. I know you disagree, but that episide deserved better IMO. Let’s hope the delayed viewing numbers are great.

Yeah, I think it will be elucidated with the live+7 if that number is the same or higher. I'm not sweating last night's numbers (yet). Hopefully it was the break and the POTUS time-push and not people actively deciding not to tune in.

I may not have cared for the episode, but I still hope the best for this show's (Nathan's) success. I'm glad that many are enjoying it even if it isn't my cup of tea right now

I don't think it played that much of difference- word was out every where about POTUS’ speech and ABC put out the revised starting times for their shows on Twitter and even on TV. You would really have to not pay attention to miss it.

You’d be surprised how many don’t constantly check their twitter, or even have social media, or follow ABC or pay any attention to the news. I alone know several people who had no clue.

Ok ratings were pathetic. Hopefully it’s just last night thanks to ABC’s stupid decision to air The Rookie instead of prempting it like CBS did or airing at the same time like NBC did with NA.

I do believe that a lot of people tuned in only to see SUT playing. BTW SUT got a 0.7 which is the rating TR usually gets. Blackish and SUT benefitted from the presidential address but The Rookie was badly affected. Hopefully ABC considers that.

I think the delayed will be screwed too as the DVR would not have recorded the entire ep. So people might see the show on Hulu. So I am not expecting good DVR numbers this week.

This is going to be an unpopular opinion. But I do think Nathan should have tweeted about TR last night informing people of the delay. Instead he was posting diving videos.

Nathan has 3.5 million followers. TR account only has 9k. It may have made a difference maybe if Nathan tweeted about it. Jmo.

Anybody know if Hulu viewing of The Rookie, or any series, gets counted in the delayed viewing? I don't think it does because streaming platforms don't release their numbers and Hulu isn't connected with Neilsen. I just see so many commenting that they watch TR on Hulu.

I assume since Disney owns part of Hulu they have access to those numbers, in addition to number of viewers on the ABC website streaming.

A lot of the younger viewers would likely be watching the streaming versions. I'm even finding more and more older viewers that are cord cutting and getting their tv through other methods now.

Has to be connected to Nielsen I would think? They have the opt-in option for Nielsen so why not report numbers to them?

Edit: Quick search https://www.nielsen.com/us/en/press-roo ... elsen.html

I honestly don't know the inner-workings. What affect would it have on shows not shown on Hulu when doing comparisons?

So based on that article I guess Hulu is counted in the L3/L7 numbers. Thanks for clarifying.

Told you guys. DVR isn’t going to be good this week. It must have only recorded half the episode.

Let’s hope for better numbers from next week. Unfortunately the presidential address screwed up everything.

The Rookie (ABC) • Updated Live+Same Day: 3.956 million viewers, 0.65 adults 18-49 rating • Live+3: 6.655 million viewers, 1.19 adults 18-49 rating • Gains: +2.699 million viewers (+68%), +0.54 adults 18-49 rating (+84%)

Just for comparison sake, ALMT rerun last night did an 0.2 with 1.2 million viewers. Also against a big football game.

What happened to the viewership? Where did they disappear? Overall bad performance by ABC with the exception of Conners and SUT.

Infact SUT seems to be the real winner of the night. Lol. As it has improved performance since fall and is matching TR in demo.

I think that the lower number of viewers is the result of last week's confusion with Trump's message and the winter break. And when it comes to SUT, what are you talking about, has over a million smaller audience than The Rookie.

I meant it has improved since fall. It used to be lower than TR. Now it matches it in demo. So it improved.
